Constraints: A Fresh Look at What Makes Agile Thrive

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Imagine you are watching a speed skater, whizzing around a frozen track at speeds up to 37 mph, smoothly transitioning from straightaways to the outside turn. This fluid and agile sport is made possible by the rigid contract, or constraint, of the razor-sharp skate blade and the smooth, frozen track beneath. Like the speed skater in her environment, organizations are systems filled with constraints. These are things to identify, understand, and monitor as you make change and move about our complex world. We will explore constraints and other ideas from complexity science to help to take a fresh look at what makes an agile culture thrive. You will leave with practical tools and ideas to bring an agile culture to all parts of your organization.
